Hi, my name is Claire Clinton. These are some of my  favorite things in 2nd grade. I love art, dancing, and writing. We do Minecraft in computer lab too. Music is my favorite thing and also my friends! I am half French. I have one sister, a mom, and a dad. And my favorite color is mint. We do lots of fun things in 2nd grade like Market Day. Market Day is where we choose a good or service that we want to provide for our school. For example, we can make a booth like a nail salon station and duck tape things (bows, bookmarks, etc.) These are all cool things about 2nd grade!

Hi my name is Mariah. I like 2nd grade because we do estimation jar and we get to do Minecraft for our community project. On my trip to Hawaii, I went parasailing and snorkeling. We went to a volcano and it was 52 degrees! I got a great view! At the hotel, we saw lots of fish and flamingos.The pool had a water slide it was fast and fun!

Hello this is Etienne I am in second grade. In second grade, it is very fun. On Tuesdays we get to go to the computer lab. We used to go on Thursdays but one day Mr. Wood, our teacher for Minecraft, was absent. So we skipped that day. So now we go on Tuesdays. We are working on Minecraft because we are learning about communities we are building a urban, suburban, and a rural community. It is going to be fun! 

Hi my name is Dzoveeg and this is a blog about me and second grade. My name means “ocean” in Armenian. My favorite color is red, my favorite food is pizza and my favorite TV show is Austin and Ally. Second grade is really fun. We get to read first thing in the morning and in the afternoon we do Think-O-Grams. It was really cool, we went to the computer lab last week and we got to learn how to do Minecraft with communities. Second grade has been a blast!

Hi my name is Rilewa and this is a paragraph all about second grade. In Mrs. Evans’ class we like to read. My favorite thing to do in class is color. I  look forward to field trips this year, we are going to a bowling alley and also the Capital of Sacramento. In conclusion, this is all about second grade!

Baby Jax

    Hi our names are Amanda and Angelina. We are going to tell you about Mrs. Evans’ Baby. His name is Jax. He has reddish blondish hair. His birthday is March 19th, 2014. He is the only male kid boy in Maria’s family. Baby Jax has a big sister named Lilliana and she just turned 4 years old. He was once a straight jacket (a swaddle). Parents have to swaddle babies when they are not familiar with being in our big world. Parents do this when they are sleeping so they feel safe.  When they wake up and can stretch, they look like a superhero. Have you ever seen a picture of him? We have!! Dr. Sun does  Mystery Reader

Hello my name is Laiba and I am in Mrs. Evans’ 2nd grade class. Today l am going to tell you about Mystery Readers.  A Mystery Reader is a person that comes to read to us and they can be a parent, a relative, or a friend to a student in Mrs. Evans’ class. One week, we got to have Dr. Sun come and surprise us!  She is the head of all the Natomas Charter Schools!  Dr. Sun read the book, Extra Yarn.  My favorite part of Extra Yarn is when the girl tricks the pirate.  There is a book trailer about Extra Yarn so you should check it out ...it’s so cute!  Extra Yarn book trailer. Hi, my name is Carissa.  I am in Mrs. Evans' second grade class.  Our class did a project on fantasy books.  A fantasy is something that is not real.  For my project I had to read a chapter book, write a book fun page, type my main event, design my poster and last but not least present it to my class.  I liked this project because I like fantasy books. Hello, my name is Audrey and I’m from Mrs. Evans’s class. Today I’ll talk about Writing Workshop.  Writing Workshop is a workshop we do in school and we can write our own stories. My favorite part of Writing Workshop is coming up with ideas. I also like drawing the pictures to go with them. Writing Workshop is also my favorite part of school.My favorite genre to write about is fantasy. A genre is the kind of book.  What is your favorite genre to write about?

P.S---After we go through the whole writing process (brainstorm, prewrite, rough draft, revise/edit, and finally publish) we get to do author's chair and we record it on video!! Here is an example of me sharing my Gooney Bird Greene (by Lois Lowry)-inspired story in front of the whole class!! Gooney Bird Greene is a story about a very smart and interesting 2nd grade student who LOVES to write and tell stories! She also loves to take a real life event and exaggerate it quite a bit to make it interesting to the reader...so we followed her lead and made our own "Absolutely True Stories".
